Prayer focus for July 23

‘So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.’ Isiah 41:10 (NIV). 

This month you are invited to pray for help to love and serve many aspects of those involved at Connect  and the wider world .

Week one 1st – 9th   PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS – food, drink, rest 

This week we are aware of our own lives compared to those who are existing at the lowest level of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Those without the money to buy nutritious food for themselves. Those needing sleep and rest.

We humbly ask God to meet this need in those we know and those unknown to us but known to God. 

Week two 10th – 16th    SAFETY NEEDS – security, protection from physical and emotional harm

We recognise how fortunate we are as individuals and as an organisation to have a safe dry place to work, live and sleep. We are aware that many clients do not have security and their complex physical and emotional needs are not met. We pray this week for those without this security. 

We humbly ask God to meet this need in those we know and those unknown to us but known to God. 

Week three 17th – 23rd SOCIAL NEEDS - affection, belonging and relationship with God and others.

We know that we are loved by God. We know that many people do not have friends to talk to and rely on. Folk who do not belong to any group, no-one to love, are not given or able to accept love.

We humbly ask God to meet this need in those we know and those unknown to us but known to God. 

Week four 24th – 31st ESTEEM NEEDS – confidence, respect by and for others

We are aware of people who do not have self-respect, self-worth, and significance, those who for what ever reason have no autonomy or status.  

We humbly ask God to meet this need in those we know and those unknown to us but known to God. 

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs- in order to progress each level’s need must be met

SELF ACTUALISATION – reaching our full potential in as many aspects of our lives as possible.

This is achieved when we surrender ourselves completely to God and accept His will be done, we ask for this to be brought about in us all.
